Got to Be Good-looking Cos He's So Hard to See

"Come Together"
by The Beatles

Here come old flattop, he come grooving up slowly
He got joo-joo eyeball, he one holy roller
He got hair down to his knee
Got to be a joker he just do what he please

He wear no shoeshine, he got toe-jam football
He got monkey finger, he shoot coca-cola
He say "I know you, you know me"
One thing I can tell you is you got to be free
Come together right now over me

He bag production, he got walrus gumboot
He got Ono sideboard, he one spinal cracker
He got feet down below his knee
Hold you in his armchair you can feel his disease
Come together right now over me

(Right!
Come, oh, come, come, come.)

He roller-coaster, he got early warning
He got muddy water, he one mojo filter
He say "One and one and one is three"
Got to be good-looking cos he's so hard to see
Come together right now over me

Oh
Come together
Yeah come together
Yeah come together
Yeah come together
Yeah come together
Yeah come together
Yeah come together
Yeah oh
Come together
Yeah come together

A Bit of Rubbish

Though I am a bookworm who truly does enjoy learning, the academic situation tends to drain me of my creative capabilities. I've been working on a short story for the past month, and though I have a working outline, I've only written a few substantial sentences. And as far as poetry goes...I've written nothing but utter crap since summer. I know all writers experience blocks sometimes, but it's still rather depressing.

But perhaps this pitiful inkling of a poem is the beginnings of a creative awakening:

"Microphone"

She moves of your volition,
her face close, closer.
You pick her up,
hold her slender body to you.
Warming under your palms,
she's part of you now.
Lips moving against her,
your voice breathes,
screams into her.

I submitted a piece to the local newspaper two months ago. I've been told it will be published, but they cannot tell me exactly when it will be (which irks me a bit). So that will be exciting to see my name in print. I'll be sure to let all of you know when it is finally published. Hopefully that will encourage my pen to befriend me again.

The Fear of Being Overheard

After reviewing these photos (especially the first shot), I was reminded of this song. There is such subtle beauty about it. Her voice is so vulnerable and lovely, and although it's a love song, I feel like she's talking to me: a quiet girl who wants to be heard but is too often afraid to speak.

"Secret Heart"
by Feist

Secret heart
What are you made of
What are you so afraid of
Could it be
Three simple words
Or the fear of being overheard
What's wrong

Let her in on your secret heart

Secret Heart
Why so mysterious
Why so sacred
Why so serious
Maybe you're
Just acting tough
Maybe you're just not bad enough
What's wrong

Let her in on your secret heart

This very secret
That you're trying to conceal
Is the very same one
You're dying to reveal
Go tell her how you feel

Secret heart come out and share it
This loneliness, few can bear it
Could it have something to do with
Admitting that you just can't go through it alone

Let her in on your secret heart

This very secret
That you're trying to conceal
Is the very same one
That you're dying to reveal
Go tell her how you feel
This very secret
Go out and share it
This very secret

The Cooliest Person in the Universe

I'd like to introduce you all to the cooliest person in the universe: my handsome love Josh. Today we are celebrating our fourth year together though we have been in love for a little over six. (We were shy about it at first, considering we were in the eighth grade and all.) We're both relatively introverted, so our first interactions were through hand-written notes (which, yes, I still have) passed between our lockers. Now we freely talk about anything and everything. Josh is a film student, and unfortunately, he hates having his photo taken, so it's rare that I get shots of the two of us. But this past weekend we went to Pioneer Days together, so I can finally show you how good looking he is ^_^

La Petite Chatte

This is my darling 11 year old kitty Pea. If you’re thinking gosh, she looks maniacal, that’s because she is.  She’s a regular kitty dictator, and though she is the smallest of them all, she rules the other pets in the household with an iron paw. She hates most people, tolerates a select few, and only shows affection to me.
She can be cuddly and sweet, when she chooses, like any other kitty; and shenanigans and all, Pea is my most favorite furry friend. Perhaps it is her shenanigans that endear her to me.

Her hobbies include:
Stalking me
Playing chase/hide-and-go-seek
Singing opera at 3am
Commandeering any and all empty boxes - she will rule them all
Napping atop the warm cable box
Sneaking into open dresser drawers
Making the bed - or rather, keeping the bed from being made
Staring contests

Ain’t she cute?

Do you have any pets? I’d love to hear about them! If you'd like, send photos and a bio of you and your pet, and I'd love to feature the two of you on my blog. You can send photos here: quirkypoet471@gmail.com. Some things are just too cute not to share ^_^
