Two Leaves and a Bud
Isn't this dainty little tea cup the cutest? Recently I discovered the most delightful cup of herbal tea from Two Leaves and a Bud tea company. I have only so far tried their peppermint, but they have a plethora of flavors. All the ingredients are organic, and the leaves have a truly pure fragrance before and after steeping. I love it! I want to try them all.
What hot beverage do you enjoy in the autumn and winter?

Hello Again
So Midterms went smashingly...My appropriate worrying earned me A's. Nerdly enough (that's right, I just created that word) I actually enjoyed taking my World Religions midterm. I knew all the answers! It was like doing a puzzle I've already mastered, or perhaps like playing the first level of Super Mario even though I already know I will beat it...It just makes me feel smart and good about myself.
After Midterms were over, I took two days off school. I decided I deserved to slack a little. Also, my face was so broken out in zits from the stress of school, family life, and other daily chaos that I did not much feel like going in public anyway o.O
Feeling oodles more rested and pretty now...
Although I haven't been blogging the past week, I have been taking photos. I have documentation of some adventures with Josh along with a few outfit photos. So I'll be sure to post those soon.
And to all the lovely ladies who have been leaving me comments...THANK YOU so much for your encouragement. Your sweet words really do brighten my life.

Deep Breathing
I can't lie to you. I'm stressed out. Extremely stressed out. Don't let that calm countenance fool you.
It may be awhile (likely after midterms are over with) before I post again, but I promise it will not be forever! Please excuse me while I take some deep breaths and sort out my life.
I will soon respond to your comments and emails, my dears. I have read them all, and I am always so encouraged by your kind words. In the meantime, be sure to like The Quirky Poet on facebook. I try to keep things up to date there; a status update takes much less time than a blog post.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend :)

Got to Be Good-looking Cos He's So Hard to See
"Come Together"
by The Beatles
Here come old flattop, he come grooving up slowly
He got joo-joo eyeball, he one holy roller
He got hair down to his knee
Got to be a joker he just do what he please
He wear no shoeshine, he got toe-jam football
He got monkey finger, he shoot coca-cola
He say "I know you, you know me"
One thing I can tell you is you got to be free
Come together right now over me
He bag production, he got walrus gumboot
He got Ono sideboard, he one spinal cracker
He got feet down below his knee
Hold you in his armchair you can feel his disease
Come together right now over me
(Right!
Come, oh, come, come, come.)
He roller-coaster, he got early warning
He got muddy water, he one mojo filter
He say "One and one and one is three"
Got to be good-looking cos he's so hard to see
Come together right now over me
Oh
Come together
Yeah come together
Yeah come together
Yeah come together
Yeah come together
Yeah come together
Yeah come together
Yeah oh
Come together
Yeah come together

A Bit of Rubbish
Though I am a bookworm who truly does enjoy learning, the academic situation tends to drain me of my creative capabilities. I've been working on a short story for the past month, and though I have a working outline, I've only written a few substantial sentences. And as far as poetry goes...I've written nothing but utter crap since summer. I know all writers experience blocks sometimes, but it's still rather depressing.
But perhaps this pitiful inkling of a poem is the beginnings of a creative awakening:
"Microphone"
She moves of your volition,
her face close, closer.
You pick her up,
hold her slender body to you.
Warming under your palms,
she's part of you now.
Lips moving against her,
your voice breathes,
screams into her.
I submitted a piece to the local newspaper two months ago. I've been told it will be published, but they cannot tell me exactly when it will be (which irks me a bit). So that will be exciting to see my name in print. I'll be sure to let all of you know when it is finally published. Hopefully that will encourage my pen to befriend me again.

The Fear of Being Overheard
After reviewing these photos (especially the first shot), I was reminded of this song. There is such subtle beauty about it. Her voice is so vulnerable and lovely, and although it's a love song, I feel like she's talking to me: a quiet girl who wants to be heard but is too often afraid to speak.
"Secret Heart"
by Feist
Secret heart
What are you made of
What are you so afraid of
Could it be
Three simple words
Or the fear of being overheard
What's wrong
Let her in on your secret heart
Secret Heart
Why so mysterious
Why so sacred
Why so serious
Maybe you're
Just acting tough
Maybe you're just not bad enough
What's wrong
Let her in on your secret heart
This very secret
That you're trying to conceal
Is the very same one
You're dying to reveal
Go tell her how you feel
Secret heart come out and share it
This loneliness, few can bear it
Could it have something to do with
Admitting that you just can't go through it alone
Let her in on your secret heart
This very secret
That you're trying to conceal
Is the very same one
That you're dying to reveal
Go tell her how you feel
This very secret
Go out and share it
This very secret
