A Pauper's Instagram

I haven't had the patience for taking outfit photos lately. What with the clicking, self-timing, and not being able to wear stretchy pants. But then again I never intended this blog to be solely devoted to photos of me posing like a wannabe Kohl's model.
So here's a glimpse of my most recent shenanigans.
(I'm poor, so I don't have an iPhone or Instagram.)

Pea is quite pleased with springtime and open windows next to birds' nests. She chats with them on occasion. I imagine the conversation to be something along the lines of "Blast! If it were not for this screen, I would capture you and...make you my friends."

Don't ask me the name of this yoga pose. I couldn't tell you. In my mind I remember it as the one where I make a triangle shape with my arms and leg.

Haha. Lois Lane. Get it. Ha.
Nerd.

I've been making a lot of Meep and Merp doodles. I also ordered animation software, so soon there will be animated Meep and Merp cartoons floating around the internets. Yay!!

And these are hedgehog earrings that I scored for $2. Their names are Tina and Tino. They amuse me.

Alas, do not let your heart be troubled...I shall return on Thursday with an outfit post.
Because I really am just another wannabe Kohl's model.

Mon petit placard.

So this is my little bedroom and my closet. The reason the closet appears so sparse is because all the clothes are piled on the bed after laundry day. My room tends to be rather chaotic, and none of my bedding matches. But what did you expect of a quirky poet?

I kind of like taking photos in here...being inside means I get to listen to music. And then pose ridiculously because I’m dancing around like a five year old watching Spongebob.
I also get to be with my bestemest furry friend Pea, who likes all my mismatched blankets.

    Christmas Sweater

As much as I love receiving gifts, I enjoy giving them much more. I think a gift is always a reflection of both the receiver and the giver. When I pick out something or make something for a friend, I always consider their tastes, but I always put a piece of myself into it too. So that it's something they will see and think of me.

I also love wrapping the presents for people. Though we aren't supposed to judge a book by its cover, or a present by its package, I like for the wrapping to be pretty and special. This year I even made my own name tags for all of them with personal doodles. Meep!

Christmas is always Pea's favorite time of year. She likes to climb the Christmas tree and take naps at the top, and she likes to help wrap the presents, too. She's obsessed with paper and plastic bags and anything else that makes a crunchy noise when she steps on it. Sorry, friends, if your present has wrinkly paper. It was Pea's contribution.

    Cheer Up, Dear

My dearest friend Angel and I decided this past weekend that we did not want to wait until Christmas, so we exchanged gifts early. Such children we are. This sweet owl-clock necklace was one of the delightful gifts she gave me. My time with her was undoubtedly the best part of the weekend. Everything else was rather meh.

Sunday was a particularly unhappy day. When days like that come about, I do my best to cheer myself. First I play dress up. Pretty dresses and frilly shirts usually have a way of improving a downcast heart.

But if that doesn't work, I cuddle with Pea. She can always tell when I'm upset. Such a little mother she is.

If I'm still feeling glum, I stuff my face with as much chocolate as is possible. (I know I'm not the only one who practices this solution.)

And when all else fails, I blare angry, heavy-metal music as loud as my ear drums will tolerate.

    That does the trick :)

    Just Peachy

This outfit has so many delightful pieces to it. Normally I don't wear sequins just because they make me feel flashy and like a flapper, and that sort of style doesn't really fit me. BUT this scarf is the exception. I think that, because it's in a small amount and it's on such a lovely crocheted scarf, it suits me.

Then there's the bow. I am wearing these bows on everything lately. They're so convenient! They add just the right whimsical touch. Don't you agree? Beauty and pleasure are in the details.

And I would be remiss if I did not gush about how amazing this purse is. It's made entirely of plastic, which I know isn't exactly eco-friendly, BUT it was the 1930s when it was made. Everybody wore real fur made from chinchilla and fox then, too. But that's beside the point. IT'S GORGEOUS! It belonged to my great-grandmother, who I never knew. I like carrying this purse and wondering about what she was like. My mother tells me she was very sweet. I like feeling that connection to the past.

And, since I am a person who believes in giving credit where credit is due, I'd just like to take a moment to thank my dear little Pea for helping me get dressed...

...and also for being so freaking cute ^_^

    Elle Boit Du Lavabo

I am such a germophobe, yet somehow this habit of hers doesn't bother me. Sometimes she sits in the bath tub too. I thought cats were supposed to be irked by water?

    Cats are amusing little creatures.

Also! Be sure to stop by Amber Blue Bird! The Quirky Poet is sponsoring her blog and there will be a giveaway soon! And who can say they don't like free stuff?

    La Petite Chatte

This is my darling 11 year old kitty Pea. If you’re thinking gosh, she looks maniacal, that’s because she is.  She’s a regular kitty dictator, and though she is the smallest of them all, she rules the other pets in the household with an iron paw. She hates most people, tolerates a select few, and only shows affection to me.
She can be cuddly and sweet, when she chooses, like any other kitty; and shenanigans and all, Pea is my most favorite furry friend. Perhaps it is her shenanigans that endear her to me.

    Her hobbies include:
    Stalking me
    Playing chase/hide-and-go-seek
    Singing opera at 3am
Commandeering any and all empty boxes - she will rule them all
Napping atop the warm cable box
    Sneaking into open dresser drawers
Making the bed - or rather, keeping the bed from being made
    Staring contests

    Ain’t she cute?

Do you have any pets? I’d love to hear about them! If you'd like, send photos and a bio of you and your pet, and I'd love to feature the two of you on my blog. You can send photos here: quirkypoet471@gmail.com. Some things are just too cute not to share ^_^
